The City of Armadale Library Services can now offer 3D printing as well as regular printing services to customers at the Armadale Library.

The Makerbot 3D printing service is a relatively new concept that library’s world-wide are offering to their communities.

Architects’ models, spare parts for equipment, as well as more personal items such as toys and gifts can be printed in the library using your own custom designs or ones downloaded from the internet.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones said the possibilities are endless and this is a very exciting concept.

“The 3D printer was used recently in-house at the History House Museum to make a 3D violin stand for an exhibition display. The printer can also offer a ‘hands on’ experience for visually impaired members of the community with printed models of museum objects/artifacts being able to be touched.

“There is already interest in this type of printing from within the community, especially from students and also local business such as architects and those in related building industries who require 3D printing models,” said Mayor Zelones.

The Makerbot 3D printer is now available at the Armadale Library and information sessions will be available to demonstrate this exciting new technology.
