The City of Armadale provides an accessible and inclusive working environment for all people. There is no obligation for an applicant to disclose their disability unless the disability will affect job performance or the ability to work safely.
It is an applicant’s choice whether to raise their disability at any stage throughout the recruitment process however, it may help us better support you. You will not be treated less favourably because of your disability.

The application process for applicants with disabilities is the same as it would be for anyone applying for the position. However, you may like to supply some information about your disability and discuss any work-related adjustments that you may require in your cover letter.
If you are successful at progressing to the interview stage and have not mentioned your disability in your application, you may want to discuss this at the interview. This may include how your disability could affect your ability to perform certain duties and the types of adjustments that you require to assist (these can be discussed in more detail during the recruitment process).
Individuals with a disability can request workplace modifications or reasonable adjustments to assist you to apply for positions, participate in the recruitment process, and with your daily job.
Adjustments are aimed at removing barriers for people with disability by providing the tools and equipment to undertake their job in the best way possible. We recognise that there are many different types of disabilities and they affect people in individual ways so reasonable adjustments can be made to suit the individual (e.g. wheelchair access, ACROD parking etc.).
You can discuss your needs with the Human Resources team if you think you may require reasonable adjustment during the recruitment process.
