Ignite Basketball

The Drug Aware Ignite Basketball Program provides quality recreational and educational opportunities for young people aged between 12 -18 years, who may be considered at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour. The  program is designed for young people from lower socio-economic areas within the City of Armadale and surrounds, young Indigenous people and those from a Cultural and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) background who may be new to the country, and looking for ways to positively engage with others.

Many at-risk young people come from homes where domestic violence, drug abuse and intergenerational crime is prevalent. Ignite aims to provide support and opportunities for these young people so they can be empowered to forge their own paths.

Key objectives include providing quality opportunities for all local young people to participate in fun and engaging physical activity, developing young people into responsible citizens, decreasing the occurrence of obesity, drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues within the wider community.
