Humans of Armadale 2025

Inspired by Humans of New York and following on from our two previous successful Humans of Armadale projects, we would like to invite people who reside or volunteer in the City of Armadale to share their inspiring volunteering stories.

There are so many wonderful volunteers who all have their own story about their volunteering journeys and the way either formal or informal volunteering has positively affected their lives and the lives of so many others in our community.

The City of Armadale would like to celebrate this by highlighting these stories and the people behind them.

We will select up to 25 people aged 16 years and older and share their stories. The selected participants will be interviewed by Centre for Stories, who will then produce a short audio story and accompanying written transcript. Each selected participant will also have a professional photograph taken to be shown on our website, at our launch and exhibition, and in the Humans of Armadale 2025 book.

Successful participants will be invited to a formal Book Launch in May 2025 during National Volunteer Week, which will be open to participants and their families, the people who nominated them, dignitaries and community members.

They will also be invited to share their stories with Centre for Stories for inclusion in their collection (available to view at https://centreforstories.com/stories/).

As part of our selection process, we will be looking for a range of people from all scopes of life that demonstrate the diversity of the people of Armadale. This may include diversity in:

  • Culture and lifestyle
  • Gender
  • Age
  • Types of volunteering or helping others
  • Types of people, organisations or causes the volunteering benefits.

If you would like to tell the story of your helping or volunteering journey you may nominate yourself. Alternatively, you may speak with someone you know and obtain their permission to nominate them.

N.B. We are NOT affiliated with Humans of New York
