Worm Farming

Worm farming is one of the common practices available to residents to reduce food waste at home, ensuring it doesn't end up in the waste stream that ultimately goes to landfill where it can contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.

Attend an information session to learn about some innovative waste reduction initiatives.

During these sessions, you will learn:

• How to use worm farms
• The role worms have in recycling and waste management
• Setting up your worm farm for success

Worm Farm Subsidy

The City of Armadale offers a worm farm subsidy to residents who attend worm-farming workshops.

Attending a workshop, City of Armadale residents pay $135 via cash or card to purchase a complete worm café set-up, saving $100.00.

The complete worm café set up includes:

• Worm Cafe unit (dimensions - length: 55cm, width: 40cm, height: 75cm; colour - black; 4 trays (1 base and 3 working trays); fly proof lid; 4 legs; tap)
• 1 kilogram of live worms (approximately 4000 worms)
• 500g Dolomite
• Castings for establishment
• Worm Blanket
• Comprehensive instructions
• City of Armadale’s Worm Farming Workshops cover all aspects of worms, as well as the set-up, operation and maintenance of a worm farm.

If you intend on purchasing worm farm products at the workshop, you must pre-order to ensure sufficient stock is available by emailing info@armadale.wa.gov.au.
