Native plants for residents

Native Plants for Residents

City of Armadale’s very popular plant giveaway program is back for 2024, with the beautiful Champion Centre serving as the community hub for pickup of your allocated plants. You are invited to be part of learning, growing, and building natural habitat and wild gardens in your own yard, verge, or on the porch. All plants are tubestock (generally no larger than a ruler length in height, and less than 12 months old).

This local government environmental initiative helps to establish and expand water wise/micro-climates with cooling native plant communities across the City. These plants improve landscape quality and provide many benefits including increasing soil, air, and water quality. These seedlings provide food and shelter for insects, birds, reptiles, and small mammals.

The season of Djeran feels like mild days, cool nights and a reprieve from the hot weather, it really is the perfect time for outdoor nature activities like planting and growing new plants around your place. By registering for this event, you will be part of actions that improve our local environment across our City and restoring our greater environment.

This year's program will be conducted through a ticketing system (Humanitix) to allow you to select your preferred timeslot to come and choose your plants.

  • Households can select up to 10 native plants. There is a limit of 2 plants of the same species in each lot of 10 (this avoids monoculture plant communities in suburban environments).
  • Pick up times will be in 30-minute timeslots!
  • Residents can only order from ONE of the timeslots and attend their preference.

Timeslots:

  1. 8:00am-8:30am
  2. 9:30am-10:00 am
  3. 11:00am-11:30 am

There are intervals between your chosen timeslot to ensure re-stocking for fair distribution of plants across all timeslots. Each timeslot has the same species richness and diversity.

This is an inclusive event. If you have any special needs outside of the specified event details, please notify environment team via email to environmentteam@armadale.wa.gov.au
