Eighth Road has been identified as a key strategic route that will support the growth of the Wungong Development area. It is anticipated that Wungong will create up to 14,000 additional residential lots, supported by a new commercial centre, new schools and a major regional recreational reserve. This development will increase traffic volumes significantly, requiring the upgrading of roads throughout the new development area. These roads are planned to be upgraded incrementally with Eighth Road to be upgraded as the first major key entry road to this development area.
The construction of Eighth Road Upgrade (Forrest Road to Gribble Avenue) will include;
- Earthworks
- Drainage upgrades
- Relocation of water lines
- Underground power
- New street lighting
- Road construction
- Landscaping (medians and roundabouts) and revegetation
The new road will consist of a median island separated 2 lane carriage way with cycle lanes, footpaths and the construction of two new roundabouts.
The road construction works are scheduled to commence in March and completed by 30 June 2021. Notifications will be sent to affected residents prior to works commencing on site.
