Westfield Heron Wetland Landscape Improvement Project Camillo

westfield Heron

What was once considered an water corporation ugly duckling has been transformed into a lively community hub. To transform the wetland into an interesting community space, the City obtained a Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Phase 2 grant.

The upgrades feature;

  • Connecting walkways across the reserve making it easy to take a leisurely stroll
  • Residents may now enjoy a BBQ, complete with shelters and picnic furniture
  • A feature deck with three distinct arches that look out over a wetland and are each etched with a different piece of artwork showcasing the local fauna and vegetation.
  • Additional trees were planted around the reserve which will create much needed shade in the coming years and contribute to the City’s Urban Forest
  • The existing turf in the kick-a-bout area was restored in addition to newly laid turf.
  • Landscape planting and Revegetation works in and around the wetland
  • New bore and irrigation system

Corondale & Ticklie Seville Grove enhancements

corondale

A pirate ship has landed at Corondale park. A picnic can be had at the picnic node beneath the cover of the trees, or budding pirates can kick a ball into the multi goals, swing away on the two swing sets, and walk the nature logs. We encourage park visitors to pick up after themselves and take their rubbish with them

Walk the newly constructed walkways around Corondale with 2 bridges crossing over from each side to explore the reserve. There is a place to take a seat and relax. At the end of the Granada Loop, there is new fitness equipment.

The pathway continues onto Ticklie Park and where new exercise equipment has been installed as a part of the final stage of the upgrade. In the playground, a new tiled softfall product has been laid and surrounding the playground a new irrigation system has been connected.

The Move Your Body – Outdoor Fitness Equipment Workout will provide you with exercises that can be completed in most local parks using the fitness equipment located there. Beginner, intermediate and advanced options are available, allowing you to go at a pace that suits your personal fitness level. Visit the COA Outdoor Fitness and Recreation page on our website to learn more about outdoor fitness.

Barossa Loop Park

barossa

Removal of the concrete ramps and skate elements was the first stage of works for this project, with as much material retained or repurposed on site as possible. The second stage included installation of the new grassed areas and garden beds for passive recreation to complement the adjacent picnic facilities and active play area. The finished upgrade has generous garden beds for large canopy trees  which will provide shade and wildlife habitat in the future and ample understorey planting for increased local biodiversity.
