Community Development

The City of Armadale's Community Development Department works towards achieving the community related outcomes in the City’s Strategic Community Plan. In 2017, Council adopted the City's Community Development Strategy 2017-2021, which details how the Community Development Department is planning to achieve these outcomes. In order to develop this Strategy, the City considered the feedback from the community in previous engagements, with staff also hosting additional workshops to ensure that the Strategy accurately reflected community priorities.

The Community Development Department comprises a wide variety of portfolios including:

  • Volunteering

  • Children and Families

  • Youth

  • Positive Ageing

  • Access and Inclusion

  • Community Safety

  • Arts and Culture

  • Major Events

  • Community Partnerships

  • Indigenous Development and the Champion Centre.

Having a focus on these communities of interest is essential in the work officers do in Community Development. The Community Development Strategy 2017 - 2021 identified the need for officers to also focus on communities of place. This means working in geographic areas supporting residents and community groups on the things that are important to them. The City has assigned place areas to Community Development Officers as indicated in the map below. If you would like to contact the Community Development Officer in your place area, please contact us on csadminastration@armadale.wa.gov.au.
