Changes to bin collections

Due to current and future growth of the City, bin collection services to some areas in the City of Armadale have changed.

A recent review of the general waste and recycling bin collection service across all suburbs indicated a need for change in order to continue to deliver an effective collection service.

Not all properties are affected as the review identified boundary changes for around half of the properties across the City.

Letters have been posted to residents affected by a change to their bin collection day or recycling area.

Residents who are changing to an ‘Area 1’ recycling fortnight may be impacted by this change and can place additional recycling in boxes next to their recycling bin if required, on their bin collection day during the week of 14 to 18 October.

Call for Christmas Parade registrations

The City is calling for registrations of interest by Friday 1 November for local groups to be part of the 24th annual 2019 Carols by Candlelight and Christmas Parade on Friday 6 December.

Community groups of all types and sizes are encouraged to submit their Christmas themed ideas for their opportunity to showcase to an audience of around 7,000 local residents, family members and friends.

The City is also calling for all of the hardworking volunteers from the district to lead this year’s Christmas Parade so their commitment to our community can be recognised and celebrated.

The parade will take approximately one hour where groups and entertainers will traverse up Jull Street to Memorial Park. Groups will be followed by Santa Clause who will welcome everyone to the Carols by Candlelight celebrations commencing in the park after the parade at 7pm.

Interested groups and volunteers who’d like to learn more or download a registration form can visit the events section of the City of Armadale website, email info@armadale.wa.gov.au or call 9394 5000.

Ease the stress this financial year with a Smarter Way to Pay

When it comes to paying your rates this financial year, ease the stress that a lump sum or limited instalment payment program can create, and save money with the City of Armadale’s Smarter Way to Pay direct debit program.

The City’s direct debit system enables ratepayers to pay-off their rates on an ongoing basis through a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly personalised direct debit payment arrangement.

The only fees and charges associated with the program is a $10 dishonour fee per dishonoured payment, and if the ratepayer cancels their direct debits within two years of their commencement date, and Administration Fee of $51 will apply and they will not be able to start another direct debit arrangement for the same property.

The earlier ratepayers start on the payment plan in this financial year, the lower their repayments will be over the payment period.

Direct Debit payments are accepted from a cheque or savings account only, not a credit card. Payments are reviewed annually.

To discuss the payment method and sign up today, contact the City’s Rates Department on 9394 5164.
