Have your say on a new City Centre

In a move to ease traffic congestion on the City’s roads at peak times, the City will now begin its rubbish collections an hour earlier.

Have your chance to help shape the future of the Armadale City Centre by sharing your thoughts on the City’s Draft Armadale Strategic Metropolitan Centre Structure Plan and City Centre Design Guidelines between 8 May and 5 June.

Armadale is the key Strategic Metropolitan Centre for Perth’s south east growth corridor, one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. The Centre is designated to become the key destination for employment, retail, commercial, entertainment, education, culture, arts, tourism, justice and health for the region.

The City Centre will need to grow to accommodate a forecast regional population of over 450,000 by 2050, an increase of almost 260,000 from 2011 figures. The Plan is a 30 year vision and aspires to guide the growth of the City Centre.

The City has worked with landowners and stakeholders including the State Government’s Metronet team to prepare the draft plan which responds to the need to grade separate vehicle and pedestrian crossings along the rail line to support the ultimate rail extension to Byford.

The draft plan proposes lowering the rail line and Train Station, enhancing development potential, creating a piazza at ground level linking with the Jull St Mall and better connecting the areas east and west of the line.

The public will have the opportunity to engage with staff and consultants who have worked on the Plan at displays in both City Centre shopping centres, ask questions, and make submissions on the draft.

Colourful project stands will be on display in Armadale Shopping Centre on Saturday 12 May from 9am to 4pm, and Armadale Central Shopping Centre on 16 May from 11am to 3pm.

More information and a submission form are available on the Out for Comment page on the City's website .
