Community Scorecard Results

Thank you to our residents who recently completed our biannual Community Scorecard Survey. Your feedback has confirmed that the City is delivering great things for our community, and shows where you’d like us to focus in future.

91% of residents think that the City is a great place to live. Your feedback told us that what you value most about your home continues to be parks and playgrounds, access to local services and facilities, natural environment, bushland, and access to local shopping. This is great news as we put significant efforts into these areas.

We’re pleased that 87% of residents are satisfied with the City as a governing organisation, and believe that the City works hard to deliver for all residents. One area you said needed improvement was in developing and communicating a vision for the future of the City, so we’re promoting here the vision that was developed from community feedback in 2016.

Look out for more results from the survey and what we’re doing to deliver on your vision for your community next month.

Vision for Armadale:

A liveable city that is responsive to community values, appreciative of our natural environment, and provides a choice of lifestyle and work.

Developed from community feedback, this vision guides everything the City and Council does, all work and decision making seeks to achieve that future for the City.

Municipal Heritage Inventory Review

As part of the City’s Municipal Heritage Inventory (MHI) review, the City sought nominations for inclusion in the document from the City’s Heritage Advisory Group and the broader community last year. A total of 19 nominations were received for consideration.

The City’s Heritage Consultant has reviewed the new nominations and has made recommendations to the City which will be considered by Council at its meeting in July or August.  Following consideration by Council and subject to their endorsement, the revised MHI will be formally advertised as a Local Heritage Survey (LHS) for public comment before again being considered by Council for final approval.

The Heritage Act 2018 and Guidelines for the preparation of MHI/LHS published by the Heritage Council of WA requires all Local Governments in Western Australia to compile, and periodically update and review a MHI.

Community Planting Days

Armadale Gosnells Landcare Group (AGLG), in partnership with the City of Armadale and City of Gosnells, will hold a series of community planting days across the region.

AGLG have secured grant funding to revegetate bushlands and river foreshores of significance within the Cities of Armadale and Gosnells. With over 100,000 seedlings to be planted this year, AGLG need all the help they can get from volunteers.

Volunteers can contribute toward improving their local environment, through planting native seedlings, hand weeding, and cleaning up of waterways. You can stay for the whole morning, or just as long as you like.

All you have to do is turn up wearing suitable clothing, shoes, hats and your water bottle - all equipment and tools are supplied. All ages are welcome and no prior tree planting experience is required.

For more information on planting days visit the AGLG website or phone the AGLG Coordinator on 0412 713 582.
