Registrations open for the Perth Kilt Run

Residents are encouraged to dust off their kilt ready for another edition of the Perth Kilt Run. Registrations are now open for the run, which is part of the Armadale Highland Gathering hosted by the City of Armadale at Minnawarra Park on Sunday 10 September from 8.30am to 4.30pm.

The Perth Kilt Run requires runners to don a kilt and take on either the 2.5km Classic route or 5km Warrior, delivering a fun filled run where you can discover your inner Scotsman.

Now in its fourth year, the Perth Kilt Run is an exciting addition to the Armadale Highland Gathering, a family friendly event celebrating all things Scottish. From highland dancing and pipe band competitions to heavy events with strongmen and a meet and greet with Scottish dogs, the event has something for every member of the family.

To register for the Perth Kilt Run, or for further information about the event, visit www.perthkiltrun.com.au.

The Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run is proudly presented by the City of Armadale.

Turning the Sod for New Pavilion

A sod turning ceremony has heralded the start of work on the Piara Waters (South) Playing Field and Pavilion.

The $8 million facility will provide a state-of-the-art shared use community facility which will include a playing field, pavilion for sports and community use, change rooms, playground and a car park.

Funding for the facility includes $6.9 million from the City through its Developer Contribution Plan. The City was also successful in securing a $500,000 grant from the Department of Sport and Recreation through its Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund.

The WA Department of Education is also making a contribution to the playing field component of the project, as this will be shared with the adjoining primary school to the south.

Construction is expected to take up to 10 months to complete.
