Business training and events calendar

The City regularly hosts low cost and free small business training. Topics include digital marketing, financials, HR, and business systems. These business workshops are provided by the Small Business Development Corporation, and the ASBAS program through Business Station.

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and subsequent changes in customer demand, SBDC’s business skills building workshops are evolving.

  • Until further notice, all available workshops will be held online.
  • No in-person workshops are currently taking place.
  • All online workshops (usually $20) are now free for all WA small business owners, however registration is still essential.

This workshop examines a range of digital marketing options, including social media, email marketing and blogging, to help you understand what would work for your business.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA)

CCIWA is a not-for-profit, member driven organisation providing quality, cost effective information, professional services and advice for businesses. CCIWA have more than 9,000 members from across all regions and industries. Their mission is to make it easier to do business in WA.

Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC)

The Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) is an independent statutory authority. Their primary role is to encourage, promote, and facilitate the establishment and growth of small businesses in Western Australia.
They provide a range of services to the small business sector including:

  • Business skills workshops
  • Business licence finder to identify the required licences, registrations and codes of practice required for your business
  • Advisory services to provide guidance on a range of small business matters
  • Commercial tenancy advisory service to provide guidance on commercial lease agreements
  • A low cost dispute resolution service to assist with resolving business to business and business to government disputes
  • Policy, advocacy and advice to government
  • Business migration.

Australian Small Business and Family Enterprise Ombudsman (ASBFEO)

The ASBFEO's role is to support small businesses and family enterprises to enable them to grow and thrive. Their services include dispute support and legal assistance. The dispute support online tool will help you identify the best avenue for your business issue.

Online food safety training

The City of Armadale offers various food safety training for community members or local businesses.

Proprietors of food businesses are reminded that all staff who handle food must complete appropriate food safety training. To this end food business owners may find it useful to encourage their staff to complete one or all of these courses.

FREE Online Food Safety Training – FoodSafe

This training usually costs $35. However the City covers the cost for its local businesses and community members. Use the discount code FSARMAD312 at checkout to have the training discounted to $0, and then no payment is required. A certificate will be generated on completion of the course.

FREE Online Food Allergy Training – All About Allergens

All about Allergens training is a free online course for anyone working or volunteering in the food industry. The course takes about 1to 1.5 hours to complete and a certificate can be printed on completion. is the link to this training program. Local Food Safety Information Sessions – City of Armadale

The City’s Health Services team occasionally runs food safety information sessions for local community groups or small businesses. Any future food safety training sessions will be listed below. It is essential that you RSVP to any information sessions to ensure the City can accommodate you.
