Community Liaison Officer patrol trial - Jull Street Mall

Armadale shoppers will see some new, friendly faces in Jull Street Mall this summer with the City of Armadale introducing Community Liaison Officers. The officers will be acting to ensure the City’s main shopping precinct remains a vibrant and welcoming place for families during the festive shopping period.

Working in cooperation with the two major shopping centres, the trial will run from November 2016 to January 2017. The City will then evaluate the effectiveness of the Community Liaison Officers in enhancing the shoppers experience or perception of the City Centre.

The officers will be on duty on weekday afternoons and peak business hours on Saturdays and Sundays.

Fashion Show a roaring success at Spring into Armadale finale

The hugely successful Spring into Armadale Fashion Show was held on 29 October at Araluen Golf Resort, showcasing the skills of fashion artisans in Armadale’s Darling Ranges and throughout Western Australia.

City staff worked closely with partners Fashion Advocate and Oracle Golf, to build sustainable relationships and deliver the event. The models were participants in the unique Life Skills Program created by Fashion Advocate’s multi-talented Catherine Birch for Aboriginal youth in the local community. Catherine successfully uses art and fashion to engage young adults to work towards meeting objectives in economic diversification, creation of new industries and employment.

The Fashion Show was an end of year celebration for the 2016 program participants, who modelled new spring collections designed by two WA fashion designers - local label FuMoso by Thompson Design and Red Opium’s Alinga-Sun Goddess collection designed in collaboration with artist Peter Farmer.

The Dale Does Xmas

The Dale is back with an exciting new retail campaign to reward residents for visiting the Armadale city centre during the summer season.

Following two successful ‘The Dale’ promotions in 2015 and 2016, The Dale does Summer is an exciting new retail campaign to reward residents who visit the Armadale City Centre during the summer season.

The Summer campaign is split into two segments – the The Dale does Xmas during December and The Dale does Summer Holidays from January to February.

Residents and shoppers are asked to take advantage of the City’s calendar of Xmas and summer activities and events, snap plenty of photos, and post them online to be in the running for the major prize (a $2,500 shopping spree in Armadale) or a handful of ‘Day Out in The Dale’ spot prizes that include double passes to the cinema, free admission to the Armadale Aquatic Centre, and lunch and smoothie vouchers.

To enter, shoppers take a photo of themselves, others, or a landscape in the city centre, upload it to Instagram or the City of Armadale Facebook page and hashtag #TheDale.

The campaign is integrated across social, digital, out of home and print media and encompasses messaging about the Community Liaison Officers, along with reasons to visit the city centre during the holiday season.

All businesses in the City are encouraged to get involved!
