The $51 million Stockland Harrisdale Shopping Centre is now open.

The 12,200 square metre centre offers a mix of retailers including Woolworths, Aldi, specialty shops and several casual dining restaurants and takeaway outlets.

A special feature of the centre is a massive colourful mural on its northern wall by contemporary artist Chris Nixon. The mural depicts birds that can be found in the City of Armadale, “The birds are a combination of those endemic to south Western Australia and others that are migratory, this is to symbolise the biodiversity of the area and represent the migratory nature of the community of Harrisdale celebrating many different backgrounds,” he said.

Smoke free malls

As part of City of Armadale’s commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of all residents and to improving the amenity and revitalisation of the Jull Street Mall, the City of Armadale has designated the area as Smoke Free.

The City will soon be launching an information campaign focused on promoting the positive experience for visitors to the mall. There will be an emphasis on education and community engagement. The project will be launched in the coming months.

It is anticipated that having a Smoke Free mall will make visiting the City centre a more pleasant experience and reduce exposure to harmful second hand smoke and the incidences of anti-social behaviour.
