Operation SCAN to form business front against CBD crime

Armadale and Kelmscott will be the first suburbs to trial a partnership program with WA Police for businesses to help combat suburban crime.

Operation SCAN (Stop Crime Action Network) is a coordinated partnership between the City of Armadale and WA Police. The trial will introduce an ‘inter-business’ radio network used as an instant communications method linking business. When an offence occurs, businesses can use handheld devices to communicate information immediately over the radio network.

Information conveyed includes a description of the Person of Interest (POI) and the offence type which allows others in the network to know what is happening and where.

By implementing a ‘business helping business’ system, relevant stakeholders are working together to stop crime through a shared communication mechanism at a low cost to the businesses.

The City of Armadale is calling on local businesses to participate in the trial program aimed at combating theft and anti-social behaviour in Kelmscott and Armadale CBDs.

For more information contact the City of Armadale on 9394 5642.

Untangling the Web

The web has quickly established itself as the way customers search for businesses.

If you are a business with a website here are some cost claiming tips to ensure you get the most back at tax time:

Claiming website costs

There are different ways of claiming a deduction for the cost of acquiring or developing your website. Depending on the cost, you’ll either be able to claim the full deduction in that year, or you’ll need to claim it over a number of years.

Claiming ongoing running and maintenance costs

You can also claim an outright deduction for some ongoing expenses associated with running and maintaining your website, such as domain name, registration fees and server hosting costs.

Business Armadale

Business Armadale thanks both members and non-members who brought about the sell-out success of the recent Beaver Tree Services Showcase and Grand Opening. The event was enjoyable, informative and a great opportunityto network. Rides on the Beaver Cherry Pickers proved a highlight of the evening.

Other activities included discussion with local politicians, representing business needs in the region and with Employment Agencies in regard to matching employer and employee needs and supporting initiatives for training the next generation.

Business Armadale has nominated a representative to participate in the Disability Access and Inclusion Reference Group from whom we hope to hear more in the future.

We encourage business owners, managers and leaders to find out more about the benefits of membership by calling Sharon Knapp on 0488 555 170
