Bungendore Park leads through an area of natural Jarrah-Marri bushland. This park has a wide variety of flora and fauna, including endangered species of cockatoo, including Baudin’s, Forest Red-Tailed Black, and Carnaby’s.

Bungendore Park is a natural Jarrah-Marri woodland region on the Darling Scarp's boundary that is part of Wungong Regional Park. The park is home to a rich mix of flora and fauna, including Baudin's, Forest Red-Tailed Black, and Carnaby's cockatoos, which are all endangered. The Bungendore Park Bushland Reserve, which covers 498ha, is home to a diverse range of plants and animals. It's located within the Wungong Regional Park providing panoramic views of the Swan Coastal Plain. It's three kilometres south-east of Armadale. Walkers can set out on marked trails located throughout the reserve.

Because of its location on the western border of the Darling Scarp, the park has a diverse range of soils, topography, and vegetation types, producing well over 300 plant species. The park is mostly open Jarrah-Marri woodland, with typical understorey plants and orchids. The park also features many blossoms, which contributed to its name, which means "place of the gum blossom" and "top of the hill" in local Aboriginal language.

Bungendore provides a dramatic and variable landscape of high scenic quality as well as good lookout spots which make it an excellent place for bushwalking. Five named walk tracks are marked in the park with sign posts and maps are located at both trailheads. Please stay on marked trails at all times. Follow the colour coded walk trail markers and discover new interpretive signs on the park’s history, flora and fauna throughout the park.

Management

A committee of Council, known as the Bungendore Park Management Committee, assists in the management of the area. The Bungendore Park Strategic Directions Document also helps guide management activities.

The Bungendore Park Environmental Group, a Committee of volunteers, provides oversight on the management of the reserve. You can also follow their Facebook Page here.

Difficulty

Grade 2 Bush Walk - No prior bushwalking experience required. The surface of the track is hardened or compacted, and it may include a modest incline portion or sections, as well as occasional steps. Walks of no more than 10 kilometres. This is a good option for families with young children.
