Notice of Intention for Road Intersection Upgrade works Blackspot Project 22/23 on Railway Avenue & Streich Avenue, Kelmscott

The City of Armadale would like to take this opportunity to inform the residents and business owners that the City has successfully obtained 22/23 Blackspot funding from the Australian Government Program Contribution to mitigate the risk of crashes by implementing countermeasures and improving this intersection.

Main Roads WA has approved the implementation of this design since the crossroads and the near proximity of the railway crossing make it more difficult for drivers to cross the railway and have caused numerous rear-end and side-swipe accidents in the last five years.

To eliminate the masking effect, the median island should be extended to block right turn movements into and out of the railway crossing. The proposed updating is expected to begin at the end of 2023 and will also reduce sideswipe collisions. These moves can be performed considerably more safely by using the nearby roundabouts. The implemented steps will help enhance pedestrian amenities and safety.
