Balannup Drain Rehabilitation Project

Balannup drain landscaping has commenced to further improve and rehabilitate a sustainable living stream and revegetate the corridor connecting the Harrisdale area drainage system to the Balannup wetland. This project is the continuation of works undertaken during 2017 which included the installation of jute matting and limited endemic vegetation to the drain.

The stage of works that commenced in March 2018 and anticipated for completion by September 2018 consists of construction of boardwalks, bridges, decking, pathways and seating that can be utilised by the community along the extent of the drainage system.

Erosion control, culverts, fencing and retaining walls will be installed in preparation for the soft works component which will follow in the second stage of works that will include the revegetation of the drain. Existing vegetation will be retained during the construction works. At the completion of the project the community will be able to take advantage of walkways and seating through a natural living stream environment.
