City of Armadale Economic Development Strategy 2018- 2022

The City of Armadale has engaged Lucid Economics to assist developing their new Economic Development Strategy 2018 - 2022.

Over the coming months there will be a number of workshops held, as well as consultation with local business and other stakeholders.

The new Strategy will enable the City to continue to grow, attracting new investment and business activity, and providing directions for strategic decision making.

PRODIG[Y] Young Entrepreneurs Program

The City of Armadale is once again participating in the PRODIG[Y] Young Entrepreneurs Program, facilitated by Business Foundations.

If you know any budding entrepreneurs, or even someone with a business idea that doesn’t know where to start, then this could be the program for them. Participants must be aged between 18-25 years old, and must be unemployed or working less than 15 hours a week.

The program is taking place at the WA State Library from 4th- 21st September.

Spring into Armadale and experience what the region has to offer

Spring into Armadale and experience the rich tapestry of culture, arts, food, music and people the region has to offer between 1 August and 30 November. The Spring into Armadale Festival is returning with a vibrant and diverse calendar of over 60 unique events.

Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP said that after the success of last year’s Spring into Armadale Festival, the City has once again been working with community groups, tourism and small businesses to bring together an exciting festival of events to promote the Armadale region.

The festival will showcase Armadale as the place to be, explore and experience throughout the upcoming months. There’s something for everyone with events catering for a multitude of interests including food, wine, markets, music, arts, trails and walks.

Perth’s largest Scottish festival, the Armadale Highland Gathering and the Perth Kilt Run will return with lots of Scottish fun on Sunday 10 September.

A Fashion Show on Saturday 28 October will feature creations by Western Australian designers worn by local Indigenous models. Tickets will be on sale from the City’s Armadale Visitor Centre.

Commonwealth Funding Program

The Department of Commerce has put together a list of Commonwealth Government grants, to make the process of finding and applying for grants and assistance programs easier for WA businesses.

The information has been sourced from a number of websites, including Ausindustry, and will be updated monthly until August 2017.

There are 370,000 reasons to partner with the WA Seniors Card program

Western Australian businesses have the chance to put their business in front of thousands of potential customers by offering a discount exclusively to WA Seniors Card members.

The WA Seniors Card program invites businesses to submit a proposal to offer members discounts on goods and services. Simply complete the online form. WA businesses should offer a discount of 10% or savings worth more than $20 in value to members. All business partners joining the WA Seniors Card program are listed in the online discount directory, potentially reaching thousands of seniors.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics recently released a profile on the ‘typical’ Australian in 2016. This person was a 38 year old female, born in Australia, with both parents also born in Australia, married with two children, living in a three bedroom house with two motor vehicles.

How does this compare with the ‘typical’ City of Armadale resident?

The ‘typical’ resident is a 33 year old female. They are born in Australia, with both parents born overseas, married with two children and live in a house with four or more bedrooms and two motor vehicles.
