About Council Elections

City of Armadale elections

The Council of the City of Armadale is composed of a Mayor and 14 Councillors, all elected by popular vote.

The local government electoral system in Western Australia requires half of the Council's civic offices (or 'seats') to be vacated every two years, thus ensuring after every election cycle a suitable level of experience is retained on the Council. The term of each Councillor and the Mayor is four years.

The Deputy Mayor is elected by the new Council after each ordinary election. Local government elections are held on the third Saturday in October with the next election to be held on 18 October 2025, creating the vacancies on Council as follows:

  • 1 Councillor - Heron Ward

  • 1 Councillor - Hills Ward

  • 1 Councillor - Lake Ward

  • 1 Councillor - Minnawarra Ward

  • 1 Councillor - Palomino Ward

  • 1 Councillor - Ranford Ward

  • 1 Councillor - River Ward

For detailed information on the City's wards, please visit the Mayor, Councillors and Wards page. (LINK WHEN PAGE CREATED)
