The City of Armadale is awaiting confirmation from the State Government before undertaking further work towards local government reform.

The City has been working with the Shire of Murray and Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale towards boundary change as confirmed in Governor’s Orders issued on 24 December 2014.

City of Armadale CEO Ray Tame said there appeared to have been a fundamental shift in the State Government’s position on Metropolitan Local Government Reform arising from amalgamation polls on the weekend.

“We have advised the Minister that we need clarification with regard to the Governor’s Orders and hope that the State Government’s position and way forward will be discussed at the Liberal Party Regional Conference underway in Busselton today.

“The City cannot make any further comment until we receive this advice.

“For now, we have agreed with our colleagues at Serpentine Jarrahdale and Murray to pause the reform process, awaiting clarification.”
