Community Citizen
Release Date:
Monday, 16 August 2021

Nominations are now open for the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards. Each year on Australia Day, the City of Armadale acknowledges and celebrates individuals making a difference in the community.

“Every community has individuals and groups who quietly and selflessly, volunteer their time to improve our society and surroundings. We are asking people to nominate those individuals or groups who have made a noteworthy contribution during the current year or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years through active involvement,” said Mayor Ruth Butterfield.

“Individuals may have volunteered in areas such as education, health, fund-raising, charitable or emergency services, business, sport, arts, the environment, social inclusion or any other area that contributes to the advancement and wellbeing of the local community.”

“This is a great opportunity to publicly celebrate those who have made an exceptional contribution.”

The four categories in the awards include:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year – Youth (for a person under 25 years)
  • Citizen of the Year – Senior (for a person over 65 years)
  • Award for Active Citizenship (for a group)

Recipients will be announced at the City’s Australia Day celebrations on 26 January 2022.

Nominations open on 1 September and close 31 October. More information about the awards, the nomination process, and how to nominate online can be found at https://www.citizenshipawards.com.au/
