In line with WA Government and Department of Health directives, a three-day lockdown will be in place for the Perth and Peel region from tonight.

Council Administration, Orchard House, Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre, Champion Centre, Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre, History House Museum as well as Armadale, Seville Grove and Kelmscott Libraries, and the Armadale Landfill and Recycling Facility, will remain closed to the public. There will be no changes to recycling and bin services.

Some AFAC member payments may still be in the process of being debited. AFAC members can rest assured that they will be credited for any time they cannot access the centre during the 3 day lockdown. These credits will be applied in arrears, and will be reflected on your next debit.

Community bookings of City facilities including halls will be cancelled during this period. Alternative booking dates will be arranged or any refunds will be processed accordingly. Rushton Park, Lions Park and the Tourism Centre toilets will remain open, with all other City Playgrounds, BBQ areas, skate and dog parks closed.

Under State Health directives, masks will become mandatory from 6pm tonight for all people outside of their homes.

From midnight tonight, there are only four essential reasons to leave home:

  • Work, if you cannot do so from home
  • Shopping for essentials and medicine
  • Accessing medical or health care services
  • Exercise, but only within your neighbourhood for one hour per day

“The City of Armadale supports the WA government and the Department of Health in taking every possible action to keep our community safe,” said Mayor, Ruth Butterfield.

“We know that these decisions will have a significant impact on our community, but they are essential for maintaining community health and safety.

“We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”
