The City of Armadale was pleased to receive notification that the Federal funding contribution of $160,000 per annum to the Champion Centre has been reinstated for the next two and a half years.

Armadale Chief Executive Ray Tame said the City appreciated the prompt response from the local Federal Member Don Randall MP and the Minister for Indigenous Affairs the Hon Nigel Scullion.

“The City will continue to work with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet to ensure continuity of funding beyond the current funding period.

“The Champion Centre is a highly respected community hub for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. It is run by local Noongar staff who have built strong relationships with the community, state government agencies, not-for-profit organisations and community groups.

“This Federal funding is critical to the continuation of program delivery at the Champion Centre”, said Mr Tame.

The City of Armadale provides $230,000 annually towards operations of the Champion Centre.
