Focus Winners
Release Date:
Monday, 23 May 2022

Winners of the FOCUS photographic competition were announced at the Armadale Library on Saturday 21 May 2022. City of Armadale Mayor Ruth Butterfield gave out the prizes at an award presentation attended by councillors, judges, award winners, and their families.

Mayor Butterfield said the competition records another layer of the City’s history and that the quality of photographs submitted to this year’s competition are testament to photographs being able to capture more than outward appearances.

“We’re committed to supporting culture and the arts, and recording the history of the City of Armadale. It was great to have amateur photographers engaging with this year’s theme of ‘Industrial Strength’. Entrants delivered contemporary photos of buildings and businesses from industrial areas in Kelmscott, Forrestdale, and Armadale.

“Thank you to everyone who entered our competition. Your entries are helping to capture our history for future generations, and showcasing the talents of local photographers,” Mayor Butterfield said.

The historical pre-2000 category of scanned print photographs older than 20 years will assist the City in recording its appearance in previous decades.
