Volunteer Positions
Activities Assistants and Social Visitors
Are you compassionate, with good listening skills? Do you enjoy different recreational activities and would like to have someone to share these with? Or are you interested in people and take pleasure in having a chat? We have several organisations across the City of Armadale which are looking for people just like you.
Administration Assistants/ Receptionists/Office Workers
Do you love the buzz of an office, want to brush up on your skills or share the ones you have? There are several key offices around the City of Armadale looking for people with office skills and people who want to develop new ones.
Animal Carers – Domestic and Native
Great opportunity for a “Dr Harry”! Local animal shelters are currently looking for volunteers. Whether you want to care for domestic animals or native wildlife, we have a position to offer you.
Kitchen Hands/Cooks/Canteens/ Cafes – food preparation
Fancy yourself as a budding Jamie Oliver or Donna Hay? We have cooking positions in a variety of locations, including local cafes and school canteens.
Drivers – bus, train and car
Love the open road, can’t afford the fuel! We require drivers for cars, buses and even a small train, so if you would like to get behind the wheel, contact us now.
Childcare/ crèche workers
Is Mary Poppins your second name? We are looking for her and part-time Nannas to help out at local crèches and community centres.
Student Mentors
Looking for something to do during school hours and only have 1 hour per week to spare? Local schools are looking for mentors for their students. Generally mentors attend schools for 1 hour per week, for a 10-week period, with the same student. Come and brighten a student’s day.
Events/Art Exhibition
Have you only got a few hours to spare and would like to meet new people, have fun and actively contribute to the community? Then contact us to find out more about one-off volunteering opportunities at annual events.
Fundraising
Another position to consider, when you only have a few hours to spare once in a while. Enjoy meeting people while assisting organisations during their fundraising drives and help them collect much need funds.
Gardeners
You don’t have to be Don Burke or Jamie Durie, but if your love is the great outdoors and small gardens jobs we can find a volunteering position for you.
Heritage/History
Interested in history? Then take a step back in time and get involved in your local museum. Exhibition attendants, education presenters and oral history transcribers are presently required by our local museums.
Recycling
“Reduce! Re-use! Recycle!” Do you have a passion for recycling? Rather than items ending up at the landfill, you could join a friendly group of volunteers sorting, repairing and cleaning items ready to be sold at the local Drop’n’Shop.
Emergency Services
Do you want to be part of a team? Are you able to keep calm in an emergency situation? Then the local volunteer bush fire brigade or the SES might be the team you are looking for.
Retail – op shops etc
Enjoy the retail industry and like meeting different people? Or maybe you would like to gain some sales experience. We have community retail outlets across the City of Armadale looking for volunteers.
Men in Sheds
You don’t have to be called ‘Bob’ to fix things up …. just some good basic wood or metal work skills. Get out of the house, enjoy some mateship and share your knowledge.
