Your Community

People with a Disability

While the City of Armadale does not deliver services directly, it actively advocates for and supports the delivery of disability services by local agencies and organisations. The City is committed to working to create an inclusive community that is aware of the access needs of all its members including people with disabilities.

City of Armadale Access and Inclusion Plan

The City of Armadale’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2011-2016 (PDF 138 KB) (DAIP) seeks to improve access and inclusion for people with disability to facilities, services and community life. Local Governments are required to have a DAIP by the Disability Services Act (1993) which was amended in 2004 to include this requirement. It is also a requirement that DAIPs are reviewed every five years.

A review of the City’s ‘Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2007 – 2011’ was undertaken in 2010/2011 in consultation with the key disability advocates and in line with requirements determined by the Disability Services Commission of WA. Following a public comment period, the City’s revised Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2011-2016 was endorsed by Council and forwarded for approval by the Disability Services Commission of WA.
