The City manages graffiti through a multi strategy approach including
- Ensuring rapid removal of graffiti from Council assets
- Providing preventative initiatives such as youth diversionary programs and crime prevention through environmental design
- Providing information and support for graffiti prevention and removal
- Engendering community ownership and responsibility

Graffiti Removal
The City of Armadale removes graffiti from its own properties and assets. Such assets include; City owned properties, boundary fences or walls facing onto ovals, parks, public access ways and open public space, park furniture and playground equipment, City signage, rubbish bins, lighting columns, bus shelters and bus stops
Graffiti removal from private residential and/or private commercial property is the responsibility of the property owner and/or manager.
A volunteer community group called Civic Pride Action Group remove graffiti free of charge from private properties and small locally owned businesses within the City if Armadale. To request their services contact 9399 0111.

Preventative Initiatives
- The City runs workshops designed to engage and redirect graffiti youth. Workshops have included Skatescape and Wearable Art. Contact the Youth Officer 9399 0637 for further information
- The City has been successful in securing a grant from the Office of Crime Prevention for mobile cameras. From late 2009 onwards the cameras will be located in graffiti hotspots within City parks and buildings etc.
A poster showing examples of works produced by the Skatescape workshop. The artists used painted skateboards as a medium to reflect local culture and make interpretations on the identity of local businesses.

Engendering community ownership and responsibility

The City has paid for "Constable Care" to provide a series of anti graffiti and anti bullying puppet shows/interactive drama plays to all state primary schools in Armadale 2008-2010. The delivery of early intervention "life skills" education can raise children's awareness about crime prevention and respect issues
