These days may be extended or shortened in the event of unseasonable weather conditions; as such you must check the press for details or call Ranger Services on 9399 0111.
For burning during the wet season (1 June through to 30 September), please contact the City's Health Department for further information on 9399 0111.
When & Where to obtain a permit
For burning between 1 October to 30 November and 1 April to 31 May inclusive. Permits can only be obtained from Ranger Services at the City of Armadale’s Administration Centre, 7 Orchard Avenue on Monday, Wednesday and Friday’s between the hours of 3pm and 4pm. For burning during the wet season (1 June through to 30 September), please contact the City's Health Department for further information on 9399 0111.
Please note that permits are;
- Issued for a maximum of 3 consecutive days.
- Not issued to properties under 1200sqm in size.

What is required to obtain Permit
- When applying for a permit please ensure you are in a position to provide/comply with the following;
- The lot number and/or street address of the property to which the permit will apply to?
- What fire fighting equipment and resources will you have at the fire front and is it in good working order?
- What is the size of the burn to take place?
- Are firebreaks installed & can a fire unit get access to the area being burnt?
- What material are you burning? Is it dry? Are there any plastics, tyres, treated posts or wood in the piles or area to be burnt?
- Ensure you notify your neighbours at least 24 hours prior to commencing your burn?

Cost
There is no charge for obtaining a Burning Permit, however burning without a permit is an offence under the Bush Fires Act and carries a penalty of $500.

Burning prohibited
Burning of any type is not permitted, including incinerators on Sundays and Public holidays, or on days where the Fire Danger Rating is Very High, Severe, Extreme or Catastrophic.

Burning is totally prohibited between 1 December and 31 March inclusive.

Hints for Burning:
- Don’t light a fire on a hot or windy day
- Don’t try to burn more than you can control
- Make sure smoke and sparks will not affect your neighbour’s washing or living conditions
- Cut or rake long grass around trees, buildings and fences before burning
- Burn against the wind from an established firebreak
- On a sloping block, burn from the top down
- Have a hose or spray pack ready to dampen down fierce fires.

Health Local Law
The City of Armadale Health Local Law prohibits;
- The escape of smoke to such quantity or nature as to be a nuisance to any person.
- The burning of any plastic, rubber, green garden waste, wet materials or any other matter likely to cause a smoke nuisance.
- Burning at anytime during a period where a “Haze Alert” has been issued for the Perth metropolitan area by the Western Australian Bureau of Meteorology
