Better Beginnings Activities for New Parents
Better Beginnings Parent Workshops
Better Beginnings Parent Workshops aim to encourage parents to build on their existing skills and to gain more knowledge and experience to support their role as their child's first teacher. These workshops are held several times a year at the Seville Grove Library - check at the library for the next session.
Topics that have been covered include early brain development, speech, play, natural therapies, baby signing, nutrition, reading and storytelling.
The sessions provide parents with the opportunity to find out more about child development, as well as the wonderful range of books, toys and activities that are available from the library.
Babies, siblings and other family members are welcome to attend and morning tea will be provided afterwards. To find out about the next session contact Seville Grove Library on 9399 0800.
Running on Friday, 7 June 2013
Leonie Cecich from Kids 'n' Music will lead a fun interactive workshop for families with children 0-3 years of age.
Baby Rhyme Time
Created for children under two years of age and their carers, the Baby Rhyme Time sessions aim to encourage babies and toddlers to develop an early love of language, rhymes and songs.
These sessions will provide parents and their babies with a chance to bounce and sing-a-long to some of their favourite rhymes while showing parents how to entertain and educate their baby at home, and helping babies build a firm foundation for learning to read.
The initiative encourages families to use the library services and help children to gain a head start with their reading in preparation for school.
Each session goes for 20-30 minutes. Parents are encouraged afterwards, to choose some wonderful books to take home for their baby. Please leave your pram at home as space I limited. Download the flyer below for times and locations.
