Armadale Alive!
The recent development of an international-standard rowing course and white water park at Champion Lakes, the $200 million expansion of the Armadale Central and Armadale City Shopping Centres and the delivery of millions of dollars worth of revitalisation projects via the State Government-appointed Armadale Redevelopment Authority (ARA) are transforming the City of Armadale.
Located only 30 minutes south east of the Perth CBD, Armadale is experiencing rapid growth and estimates its population will increase from 55,000 to 95,000 over the next 15 years.
The State Government's extension of the Tonkin Highway has provided for a range of new opportunities. The City is ripe for investment and offers a vast and diverse array of residential, commercial and industrial opportunities.
A number of residential developments are taking off in Harrisdale and Piara Waters, attracting the attention of significant investors, while others are set to take off in the new suburbs of Haynes and Hilbert in the near future.
Industrial investors are also catered for, with a new 330 hectare business park strategically located in the Forrestdale area, estimated to create 10,000 jobs.
It is estimated that the current expansion of the Armadale Central shopping centre will generate over 500 new jobs and attract millions of dollar in spending money to the City each year. Together with the completed upgrade of Armadale Shopping City and establishment of the Grand Cinemas movie complex, the City’s CBD is now a vibrant retail and entertainment precinct.
The world-class rowing course at Champion Lakes, launched in 2007, is a drawcard not just for the City, but for the entire State. The 2.2km long and 300m wide purpose-built rowing course is the first of its kind in Australia and will no doubt attract a range of high profile recreational and sporting events to the City. With 56 hectares of open water, the facility includes a white water park for canoeing and kayaking, along with pedestrian paths and cycleways for recreational users.
